After what many winemakers are referring to as an excellent growing season in Australia, the Mollydooker winery shared their entire 2009 portfolio of Australian wines with wine blogger Brian Pasch. Previous vintages of the Velvet Glove received praise with notable wine reviewers Jay Miller at the Wine Advocate and Harvey Steiman at Wine Spectator. The 2007 vintage received 98 points by Jay Miller and 96 points from Harvey Steiman. The Velvet Glove was also chosen as one of the “Editor’s Most Exciting New Wines”. The 2006 vintage was awarded 99 points by Miller and 97 points by Steiman.

Mollydooker Wine Tasting in Dubai

The group were introduced to Mollydooker Wines, the philosophy behind the Marquis Fruit Weight and Vineyard Watering Programme ^TM (the hallmark of our wines) and given a demonstration of the Mollydooker Shake.

Nothing brightens our day more than hearing our customers talk about how much they have enjoyed one of our wines.

Here is an email we received from a fellow Mollydooker mate:

Hello Janet:

I just want to update you on our opinion of Velvet Glove. My daughter and son-in-law visited us this weekend; both are wine enthusiasts, and we decided to have a “tasting.” As background information, in the past, we have all agreed that Bertani Amarone was our favorite wine. We tasted the Velvet Glove against a bottle of Blue Eyed Boy, and a great (in cost and reputation) cabernet from California, actually alternating glasses to make sure. The opinion was unanimous: Velvet Glove is one of, if not THE best wines we have ever tasted. I could go on and on, but you already know it’s virtues. To us, it was so full of fruit, full bodied, refined, with so many flavor layers, and even only aged as a 2007, was thrilling to drink. Blue Eyed Boy was a clear second place over the cabernet, which came in third. Yesterday, we placed an order for another mixed case, my second from you in only a week. In this case, we bought two bottles of Velvet Glove, to have for special occasions in the future. Congratulations on making such a world class wine!

The 2006 VG was so impressive I again pre-ordered the 2007 vintage. This wine is incredibly smooth and elegant, yet so concentrated with dark fruits, and red raspberries, espresso, lead pencil, and cinnamon. So for Sparky who always asks that you try and describe their wine in one word, I’m gonna go with “Ridonkulous” [definition] Way beyond “ridiculous”, extremely unbelievable. As for the finish I swear I could still taste the wine that night while laying in bed counting purple sheep with four left legs (yes my intoxicated state, the fact that I was too drunk to brush my teeth could also have had a little something to do with that) I did fall asleep with a smile and a mouth that looked like a pen exploded inside it. – Jay Henchen, New York Check out his blog……here
